Faith and Work Integration

How do we align our faith in the workplace? What types of examples can we build upon to integrate faith into the workplace? Pete talks with Mike about how to apply lessons being taught during service into the everyday workplace. Most of the examples we are given are not directly relatable to our workplace and this seems to be the first obstacle in connecting teaching to work-life applications. Testimony is your most likely answer to this problem. You need to talk to the people around you. For example –  joining the community at Follower of One can give you access to Christians who are focused on bringing their faith into the workplace, we can then use resources like this to build practical action to your lessons from Sundays. (Hint: In this very episode, Pete clearly defines a great way to differentiate how the Bible is applicable in your company “Kings vs. Priests”)

Change What We Are Looking For

Most of us today might have a very romantic view on when God calls on us, or when God is acting in the world. For example – we might be looking for a “something big” (miracle) in our daily lives and not and something small (God told me to listen and understand other people’s points of view today). God is consistently and persistently acting and presenting himself to us but we might miss most of these cues. “We have to learn to translate the kingdom of God” – Pete Cafarchio. This is difficult but we strive to build upon our knowledge and the key is to translate and interpret what happens each and every day.

How Can We Mobilize?

Seeds have been planted over the past 15 years in the Faith at Work environment. We need to share, distribute and cultivate more resources from our friends, communities, and leaders in the workforce. For example, this could come directly from our small groups, or maybe from our bible study, we have with friends each week. There are more and more people building traction on this “mission” and by deciding to take action – we can impact many more lives than we think.
