Avoiding Strife – Proverbs 20:3

By Michael Henry Jr.

The passage for today is Proverbs 20:3. It says, “Honor belongs to the person who ends a dispute, but any fool can get himself into a quarrel.”

This proverb is reminding us that it is better to avoid conflict than to engage in it. It is easy to get into a quarrel, but it takes wisdom and maturity to end one.

As Christians, we are called to be peacemakers. We should strive to avoid conflict and to resolve disputes peacefully. When we do this, we bring honor to ourselves and to God.

Let’s all ask God to help us to be dispute-enders. Let’s choose to avoid conflict and to seek peace in all of our relationships.
