Honor Others First – Proverbs 25:6-7

By Michael Henry Jr.

The passage for today is Proverbs 25:6-7. It says, “Do not put yourself forward in the king’s presence or stand in the place of the great. For it is better to be told, ‘Come up here,’ than to be put lower in the presence of a noble.”

This passage is warning us not to be arrogant or presumptuous. We should not think more highly of ourselves than we ought to. Instead, we should be humble and let others put us in the place that they think is best for us.

It is better to be surprised by a promotion than to be embarrassed by being demoted. We should always be willing to serve others and put their needs before our own.

When we do this, we are not only being kind to others, but we are also honoring God. He is the one who gives us our gifts and abilities, and He is the one who will ultimately decide our place in life.

Let us all strive to be humble and to put others before ourselves. This is the way to live a life that is pleasing to God and that will bring us joy and fulfillment.
