Planning And Wisdom – Proverbs 16:25

By Tammy Burke

Are you a planner?

Do you figure out where you’re going in advance? I’m a planner. I want to always have an idea of what to do next. Or, if I don’t have an idea, then the next action is to make a plan. When I have a plan, I’m not stuck. I can move forward.

There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death. Proverbs 16:9 CSB. We can substitute our own name for “a person.”

Left to myself, often forward isn’t forward at all. I need to memorize this verse. My own mind will conclude things that are simply not true. So much of what happens in eternal reality is the opposite of the way we perceive it.

I’m old enough to remember when some things were stated as fact only to have them overturned. Decades ago, we were afraid we were going to overcrowd the planet. Now we are certain we’re melting it.

Let’s remember that what seems right to us might just end in death. So what do we do? Today, let’s talk to God. Here I am Jesus. What would you have me do today? Once you’ve punched in, then begin working to do whatever the Holy Spirit brought to your mind. Look for ways to serve others. Try and do things that are explicitly commanded in scripture. Jesus will put you to work today if you ask.
