Avoiding Eternal Poverty – Proverbs 22:16

By Michael Henry Jr.

The passage for today is Proverbs 22:16. It says, “Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth or gives to the rich will only come to poverty.”

This verse warns us that if we take advantage of the poor or give to the rich, we will only end up in poverty ourselves. This is because God is just and He will not allow us to profit from the suffering of others.

Instead, we should be generous to the poor and help them in any way we can. This will not only please God, but it will also benefit us in the long run. When we give to the poor, we are not only helping them, but we are also investing in our own future.

Let us all be mindful of this verse and make sure that we are not oppressing the poor or giving to the rich. Instead, let us be generous to those in need and trust that God will reward us for our kindness.
