Blessed – Matthew 5:3-11

What does it mean to be blessed? Jesus repeats that word at the beginning these 9 verses. In John MacArthur’s commentary, he says it means to be “happy, fortunate, blissful.” Jesus is giving us 9 keys to life. He will give us many more, too. When we’re blessed, we experience God’s joy. But Jesus says this is a result of what God does, not our circumstances.
