“Faithful Service, Grateful Heart: Redefining Leadership in the Modern Workplace”

By Heather Shaffer

Scripture:

“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.” — Ephesians 6:7 (NIV)

Devotional Thought:

A thankful heart doesn’t just express gratitude—it acts on it. In the workplace, thankfulness becomes visible when we choose to serve others with grace, patience, and humility. A simple act—listening to a coworker, offering encouragement, or helping lighten someone’s load—can shift the entire atmosphere.

When we serve with a heart full of gratitude, it changes how we see our work and those around us. Instead of focusing on what’s missing or stressful, we begin to see opportunities to reflect God’s goodness. Every act of service becomes a ripple—impacting attitudes, fostering unity, and revealing Christ’s love in practical ways.

Prayer:

Prayer:
Lord, help me serve others from a heart of gratitude, not obligation. Remind me that every act of kindness is a seed You can multiply. Let my thankfulness create ripples of joy, peace, and love in my workplace. Amen.

Reflection Question:

How can you serve someone at work today as an expression of your gratitude to God?
