Learn more about Cameron Baker and Jeff Harmon

Cameron has been serving Grace on the Mount for just over 20 years as the Associate Pastor responsible for Pastoral Care and Counseling. He’s currently serving as the interim Senior Pastor.

Jeff has called Grace his church home for two years. Grace hosts something called “Kingdom Conference,” which brings in missionaries from around the world to speak. One of the speakers made an impact on Jeff, which led him to participate in a Marketplace Mission trip. Once he did, he knew he needed to connect us with his church’s missions team.

The Grace Church mission team completed a Marketplace Mission Trip and decided it would be something they’d like to introduce to their whole congregation. So we created a version of the mission trip just for Grace Church. Over 45 people participated.

How Grace Church made the format work for them

The Follower of One Mission Trip is a two-week experience with a kickoff meeting, a week of preparation and development, and then a mid-trip meeting to prepare for the second week. The second week is about being intentional in your workplace. The mission trip is capped with a wrap-up meeting.

Grace Church was able to host their kickoff meeting in person. It was a time of prayer, encouragement, and learning the platform together to overcome hurdles. They gathered afterward to share testimonies and experiences. For many, it reignited their desire to share their faith with others.

Cameron and Jeff’s experience with a Marketplace Mission Trip

Cameron was impressed with how easy it was to implement in their church. The platform was easy to navigate and completely customized for the church. Jeff notes that it was less intimidating because it was just members of the church. It created an atmosphere that felt forgiving and welcoming. The mission trip helped members feel more confident in sharing their faith seven days a week. Many of those who participated said their lives were changed. They wanted to invite others to do it again.

Why you should learn more about Marketplace Mission Trips

If you want to test the waters, Cameron says you shouldn’t feel intimidated. You don’t have to launch a large project. Get a few people and test out one of the public trips together. When you experience it, you can decide if it’s something you want your church to participate in.

Our dream is that churches see this as an opportunity to help their members sharpen their skills. The goal is to help Christians live the way they’re telling everyone else they’re supposed to live. This is a great way to practice what we preach.
