Gratitude Rooted in Faith

By Heather Shaffer

Have you ever thought about what fuels your gratitude?

For those of us walking by faith, appreciation at work starts with seeing God in others. 🙌

📖 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23

In the busy rhythm of work, it’s easy to get caught up in deadlines, tasks, and results—and forget the simple power of appreciation. But when your gratitude is grounded in faith, it becomes more than just a polite gesture; it becomes an act of worship.

Knowing what you believe in your faith gives clarity and confidence. You understand that every colleague, every interaction, and every effort is an opportunity to honor God. When you appreciate someone, you’re not just saying “thank you”; you’re acknowledging God’s hand at work in them.

Gratitude rooted in faith allows you to:

  • See the value in others beyond titles and roles.
  • Speak with intention that uplifts and encourages.
  • Model Christ-like love in the workplace.

💡 Practical Step: Today, take a moment to recognize a colleague. Let your appreciation reflect what you believe about God’s goodness and presence in every part of your life—including work.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, help me to see my colleagues through Your eyes. May my words of thanks reflect the faith I hold in You. Let my appreciation bring encouragement, joy, and Your presence into the workplace. Amen.
