Humility and Wisdom – Proverbs 11:2

By Michael Henry Jr.

The passage for today is Proverbs 11:2. It says, “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.”

This verse teaches us that pride leads to disgrace, while humility leads to wisdom. Pride is thinking too highly of ourselves, while humility is thinking of ourselves rightly. When we are proud, we are more likely to make mistakes and to be embarrassed. When we are humble, we are more likely to learn from our mistakes and to grow in wisdom.

We can avoid pride by being aware of our own weaknesses and limitations. We can also avoid pride by being grateful for what we have and by acknowledging the good in others. We can grow in humility by spending time with God in prayer and by reading the Bible. We can also grow in humility by serving others and by putting their needs before our own.

Humility is a valuable virtue that can help us to live more fulfilling lives. When we are humble, we are more likely to be happy, healthy, and successful. We are also more likely to be a positive influence on others.

Let’s all strive to be humble and to avoid pride. Let’s remember that with the humble is wisdom.
