Multiply Kingdom Impact

By Nicole Cevallos

Key Scriptures: Matthew 28:19–20, 1 Peter 2:9, and James 2:17

What if your everyday actions could make an eternal difference in someone else’s life?

As followers of Jesus, we have an opportunity to make a difference wherever God has placed us. Our workplaces, conversations, relationships, and ordinary daily activities can become opportunities to demonstrate His love and help others see who He is.

Multiplying our Kingdom impact doesn’t necessarily require traveling somewhere new or doing something extraordinary. It begins with following Jesus faithfully right where we are.

The Great Commission Begins Where You Are

In Matthew 28:19–20, Jesus gives His followers what we know as the Great Commission:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (NASB)

Jesus calls us to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey His commands. This is not simply a mission for pastors, missionaries, or people who travel to other countries. It is a calling for everyone who follows Him.

The word go can also be understood in the sense of “as you go.” In other words, we can live out the Great Commission as we go about our everyday lives.

You don’t have to leave your community or change jobs to participate in God’s mission. You can begin with the people you already see every day: your coworkers, customers, neighbors, friends, and family.

Jesus also teaches us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37–39). When we put that love into practice, our everyday lives become opportunities to help others encounter Him.

Let Your Actions Demonstrate What You Believe

Knowing what Jesus taught is important, but following Him means putting His words into practice.

James 2:17 reminds us that faith without works is dead. Similarly, James 1:22 calls us to be doers of the word, not merely hearers.

We can learn Scripture, listen to sermons, and talk about our faith, but the real challenge is to live according to what we know.

What does that look like in everyday life?

It can mean offering encouragement to a coworker who is having a difficult day, treating a frustrated customer with patience, helping someone without expecting anything in return, or choosing integrity when no one is watching.

These actions may seem small, but they can communicate something meaningful about the God we follow.

When our behavior reflects the teachings of Jesus, people have an opportunity to see His love in action. Our faith becomes more than something we talk about. It becomes something others can experience through the way we treat them.

Simple Acts of Kindness Can Open the Door to Faith

Sometimes, the most meaningful opportunities to share our faith begin with ordinary acts of kindness.

During the Visioncast, Mike Henry shared an example of having lunch with a friend who decided to purchase six desserts for other people in the restaurant. As they gave the desserts away, someone asked why they were doing it.

That simple question created a natural opportunity to explain their motivation: they had been talking about Jesus and realized they should put their faith into action.

They didn’t need a complicated explanation or a prepared presentation. Their actions opened the door to a conversation about Christ.

This illustrates an important principle: when we live differently because we follow Jesus, people may become curious about why.

Matthew 10:42 reminds us that even something as simple as giving a cup of cold water to someone in the name of a disciple matters to Jesus.

We should never underestimate the significance of small acts of service. A kind gesture, a generous decision, or a thoughtful response can become an opportunity to demonstrate God’s love.

Our responsibility is to be faithful in what we do and ready to explain why we do it.

Proclaim God’s Goodness Through Your Life

First Peter 2:9 describes God’s people as a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for His own possession. The passage explains that we have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light so that we may proclaim His excellencies.

Proclaiming God’s goodness can happen through our words, but it can also happen through the way we live.

When we serve others, show compassion, practice honesty, and respond to difficult situations with grace, we demonstrate that following Jesus shapes our decisions and attitudes.

Our actions do not replace the need to speak about our faith. Instead, they can create natural opportunities for meaningful conversations.

When someone asks, “Why did you do that?” or “Why are you different?” we can explain that our relationship with Jesus influences the way we live.

We don’t need to force every conversation or have an answer for every question. We simply need to be faithful, authentic, and willing to share our own stories when opportunities arise.

The goal is not to draw attention to ourselves. It is to help others see the goodness of God.

Your Workplace Is an Opportunity to Multiply Your Impact

The workplace is one of the most practical places to live out your faith.

Your coworkers see you regularly. They observe how you handle pressure, respond to conflict, treat people, and make decisions. They see both your strengths and your struggles.

This gives you an opportunity to demonstrate what it means to follow Jesus in real-life situations.

Imagine choosing patience instead of anger, offering help when a teammate feels overwhelmed, or treating someone with respect even when you disagree. These choices can make a difference in your workplace and reflect the values of the Kingdom of God.

Over time, consistent actions may prompt people to ask questions about what motivates you.

When those opportunities come, you can speak personally about your faith. You can explain that your desire to serve, love others, and act with integrity comes from your relationship with Jesus Christ.

You don’t have to be perfect to represent Him. You simply need to keep growing, keep following Him, and allow your faith to influence the way you treat the people around you.

Your workplace is not separate from your calling. It is one of the places where you can live it out.

Five Daily Habits for Multiplying Kingdom Impact

At Follower of One, we encourage marketplace believers to practice five daily habits that help them live out their faith intentionally:

  1. Pray for people. Ask God to help you notice the people around you and recognize opportunities to care for them.
  2. Appreciate people. Express genuine gratitude and acknowledge the value others bring to your workplace and community.
  3. Know what you believe. Grow in your understanding of your faith so you can live it out and explain it when appropriate.
  4. Serve others. Look for practical ways to meet needs, offer help, and demonstrate Christ’s love.
  5. Speak for yourself. When opportunities arise, use your own words and personal experiences to explain why you live the way you do.

These habits help us move from simply knowing about Jesus to actively following Him in our everyday lives.

Notice that speaking is one of the five habits, but it is not the only one. We pray, appreciate, learn, and serve, and when the opportunity comes, we speak about what God is doing in our lives.

This approach allows our faith to shape our daily interactions while leaving room for authentic conversations.

What We Do for Jesus Matters Forever

Multiplying Kingdom impact begins when we recognize that our everyday choices can serve a greater purpose.

A simple act of kindness may encourage someone who feels forgotten. An unexpected gesture of generosity may open the door to a conversation about Jesus. A consistent example of integrity may cause a coworker to reconsider what it means to follow Him.

We cannot control how others respond, and it is not our responsibility to make someone believe. Our responsibility is to follow Jesus, demonstrate His love, and be ready to share the reason for our hope when opportunities arise.

God is the one who works in people’s hearts. We can trust Him to use our obedience in ways we may never fully see.

As 1 Peter 2:9 reminds us, we have been called into His marvelous light so that we may proclaim His goodness.

When our lives become a daily offering to Jesus, even ordinary activities can become opportunities to serve His purposes.

How Will You Make a Difference Today?

You don’t need to wait for a special event or a perfect opportunity to multiply your Kingdom impact. You can start today, right where you are.

Pray for someone you work with. Show appreciation to a teammate. Look for a need you can meet. Choose to respond with patience and kindness. And when someone asks why you live differently, be willing to share how Jesus has influenced your life.

The goal is not to make ourselves look good. It is to help others see Jesus through the way we live.

What is one intentional action you can take today to demonstrate Christ’s love to someone in your workplace?

Let’s live out our faith, serve the people around us, and trust Jesus to use our everyday actions to make an eternal difference.

What we do because we follow Jesus matters forever.
