Pride Before Destruction – Proverbs 16:18

By Tammy Burke

What are you proud of? How careful should we be when it comes to pride?

I’ve been a Christ-follower for over 30 years, and I still struggle with pride every day. My worst days are the days when I don’t struggle. I just go with the flow. My own pride and arrogance are very intrenched in who I am.

And even though God made me, I’m commanded and warned all throughout scripture to avoid pride. Here’s another reminder.

Pride before destruction and arrogance before a fall. Please take a moment today and ask God to reveal your pride to you. I believe if we’re genuine, he can show us and he can help us deal with our pride. If you get no answer from him, it may be because he knows you won’t do. anything. We talked about walking humbly yesterday from Micah 6:8. Today, ask God to give you the guts to face your pride, and do whatever it takes to tame it including the sometimes painful activities of asking for forgiveness and making amends.

Also, please consider making a contribution to Follower of One. We’ve been talking about our matching grant that we received. Any new gift will be doubled, up to a total of $50,000.
