Quiet Power, Bold Influence: Serving Faithfully in the Workplace

By Heather Shaffer

Bold leaders don’t always need a spotlight—they let their service reflect their values. Serving with faith cultivates respect, trust, and a workplace culture that others want to follow.

Scripture:

“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” — Matthew 20:26

Devotion:

In a fast-moving, results-driven workplace, it can feel countercultural to lead by serving. Yet Jesus teaches that greatness isn’t measured by titles, visibility, or public recognition—it’s revealed through humility, compassion, and acts that lift others up. When we serve others in faith, we shine with a quiet brilliance that doesn’t demand the spotlight but naturally draws respect and trust.

Serving in the workplace can be simple: offering help before being asked, celebrating someone else’s win, listening without rushing to solve, or covering a teammate when they’re overwhelmed. These small acts become powerful testimonies of God’s love at work through us. They communicate that our identity is anchored in Christ, not competition. And the beautiful thing? People feel safe, seen, and valued around someone who leads this way.

When your service is rooted in faith, you don’t have to be loud to be impactful. You simply show up with a heart willing to give, and God uses your obedience to shine His light in places where hope, kindness, and integrity are desperately needed.

Call to Action:

Today, ask God to show you one person you can serve quietly and intentionally. Let your faith shine through your actions, not just your words.
