Urgency With The Message - Romans 1:16 | Follower of One

Have you ever been ashamed of the gospel? Have you hesitated to share about Jesus with others? What makes us less urgent than Paul was to share the gospel with our coworkers and friends?

As we focus on Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek”, it leads us to reflect on our own need to share the gospel. Paul is reminding us that He is not ashamed of the gospel. He seems to view it as challenge to take on by sharing the gospel with others.

Do we fail to believe something about our faith or rather about salvation that keeps us from sharing? Or not believing in the power of salvation? Our environment can make it hard to share. We can easily assume each person is on their own path and that each person chooses their own truth. This can be difficult in the workplace.

Another thought that may hinder us in sharing with others is that salvation happens to us after we die and that we get to go to heaven then. Mike shares that he has learned that salvation changes everything about his life today. Salvation changes us and changes our perspective on everything that happens. We may not think about the positive experiences that come with salvation today. There are many benefits of our salvation that exist today, such as joy.

People may hesitate to live out their faith in such a way that others may ask them about it because they do not want to start the dialogue. Be encouraged to live so differently that others might ask what is different. Let us live differently that makes us respond differently to tasks. Let us live differently with a peace that trusts Jesus.
