In today’s passage, Proverbs 16:16, we are told that it is better to get wisdom than gold, and to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. Wisdom is the skillful application of understanding or knowledge, while understanding is the ability to comprehend something. Both are important, but wisdom is what allows us to put our understanding into practice.
As Christ followers, we have been given the Holy Spirit and access to a greater understanding of the world. We should use this understanding to make a difference in the world by helping others move closer to Jesus. We can do this by sharing our faith, praying for others, and simply being a blessing to those around us.
Let’s not let a day pass without moving one notch closer to Jesus and allowing Him to transform our world.
