Working With God – 1 Corinthians 3:9

By Tammy Burke

What does it mean to work with God?

For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. 1 Corinthians 3:9 NASB

God is doing the work. We labor with him. but the work, the schedule, the timing, the results are all up to Him.

This passage is often interpreted to be pointed at pastors building churches, but this applies to our lives as well. The “ministry” part of our life is what lives on forever. We can’t impact the eternal. We can only abide in Jesus. As we walk with God and do what he says, when he says it, then we get to take part in His work.

I don’t want to push and rush. I want to rest in Jesus more. Can I trust God more with my day? Our bosses and our customers expect a lot. Can we serve them and make a difference in their lives by trusting God more and doing what he calls us to do? Can we build into our schedules time to rest in Jesus and abide in him?
