What is a disciple of Christ?
It’s all about intentionality.
Words. Actions. Direction.
Are we actually moving the needle in our lives—up and to the right?
A disciple isn’t just a label for a follower of Jesus. It’s a lifestyle, an intentional one.
Most people think they’re following Jesus… but if we’re honest, a lot of us are just observing from a distance.
We go to church. We listen. We nod along.
But are we actually living as disciples?
A disciple is someone who:
- follows closely
- learns deeply
- becomes like their teacher
Too often, we find ourselves on the sidelines of Christianity.
Church on Sunday is good. It matters.
But it’s not the full picture.
Take a step back and look at the disciples in Jesus’ day…
They couldn’t get enough of Him.
Crowds surrounded Him.
People pressed in.
They were desperate to be near Him.
Think about the story of the paralytic—the man lowered through the roof.
Those friends did whatever it took to get him to Jesus.
The Miracle Worker. The Promise Keeper.
They climbed a roof, tore it open, and lowered their friend down—because they believed being near Jesus changed everything.
That’s the kind of faith disciples live with.
And here’s the truth:
Jesus wants you.
He invites you to come closer.
As Gospel of Matthew 7 says:
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”
The word disciple comes from the Greek mathētēs:
learner. follower. apprentice.
What if you had something that reminded you of this every day?
Not just something you read—but something you wear.
A quiet statement. A conversation starter. A personal challenge.
DSCPL.
So how do we actually live this out?
Keep it simple:
Be with Jesus
Become like Jesus
Do what He did
Then we take the next step:
Make disciples.
Not complicated.
Not a to-do list.
It’s simply:
- loving people
- being intentional
- walking alongside others
Follow Jesus closely—
and bring a few people with you.
If you’re ready to live this out and not just read about it —

You don’t become a disciple by believing more—
you become one by following closer.
