The Earnest Manifestation – Romans 8:19

I have a routine with my daughter in the morning school drop-off line. Like clockwork, I pull her up to the door and speak it over her while she gathers her things:

You are the head and not the tail;

You are above and not beneath;

You are the lender and not the borrower.

After weeks of this exercise, she finally asked what all those “Bible sayings” meant. I was happy to explain it to her. Line by line, I explained where these words could be found in scripture and how God desires that we live a life of abundant health, abundant wholeness, and prosperity.

During our conversation, I quoted Romans 8:19 to her. This Bible verse in the English Standard Version reads:

For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.
A group of people stand in a crowd with their hands lifted.

What is Manifestation?

The King James Version of Romans 8:19 uses manifestation where the ESV uses revealing, and I think that’s an important distinction to note.

New Age spiritualism has hijacked many biblically inspired terms and concepts and changed their meanings to align with darkness. Manifestation is but one of many.

In this text, manifestation is akin to meaning to appear; to come; to lighten; to reveal. It is the same Greek version of the word used in Revelation 1:1 in the KJV. Essentially, Romans 8:19 states that all creation waits for the sons and daughters of God to appear, to come, to reveal themselves.

Understanding Who We Are

I believe this scripture is pivotal for followers of Christ to walk in their authority and forge the way for others. Non-believers, those that have yet to commit to God, are longing for the children of God to make themselves known. We carry the divine solutions, heavenly innovation, and mind of God with us, which will help us usher in his kingdom and tip the scales of love, truth, and light in his favor.

It’s Okay to Manifest

Let’s not keep the world waiting any longer. As long as we delay, the world will continue to be shrouded in darkness. It’s okay to manifest and reveal yourself as a child of God (as long as it is the only manifesting you’re doing). It’s okay to reveal your alignment to the kingdom of God in how you share what you believe, display your faith at work, and love your neighbor — in your neighborhood and at work — as yourself.
