Forward in Faith: Appreciating Others at Work

By Heather Shaffer

📖 “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” — Luke 9:62

Reflection:

God’s call on your life requires focus, but in the workplace, it also calls for a heart that appreciates others. Looking back at past conflicts, comparing yourself to coworkers, or holding onto frustrations can drain your joy and slow your progress.

When you intentionally celebrate the faithfulness of God in your coworkers’ lives—their achievements, acts of service, and dedication—you not only honor God but also foster a culture of gratitude and encouragement around you. Appreciating others shifts your focus from what’s behind to what God is doing now, multiplying joy and productivity in your work.

Call to Action:

Today, identify one coworker whose efforts or attitude you can genuinely appreciate. Express your gratitude—whether in person, through a message, or a note of encouragement—and notice how celebrating others strengthens both your heart and your workplace.

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the people You have placed around me at work. Help me to see their value, celebrate their faithfulness, and encourage them in meaningful ways. Fill my heart with gratitude, and guide me to be a source of encouragement and joy in my workplace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
