Higher Ways At Work

Higher Ways At Work - Isaiah 55:9 | Follower of One

I’ve been thinking about how our ministry at work is based on who God is. Every way and every thought of God’s is greater, higher than mine. What does that mean to you?

Could it mean that we can’t bend the truth? What about how much energy we exert doing a good job? Can we hold back, or go through the motions? Can we rest on our experience rather than humbling ourselves. What about our attitude toward our peers? Is it really murder to get angry at someone else? Are we really cheating on our spouses if we desire to be with someone else?

If God’s ways are higher than ours, what do we need to change today? Can you think of someone who needs a prayer or a kind word? Maybe you need to send a thank you note or make a call? How can you show you agree that God’s ways are higher than our ways? How will that impact your work performance?

Ask God to show you how you can be a better servant right where you are. You’re a minister. Ministry is just helping others move one notch closer to Jesus. Let’s respect others and appreciate them and look for ways we can humbly help them see that Jesus loves and cares for them. Let God stretch your mind today.

Speaking of a stretched minds, we started doing a 2-week exercise called the Marketplace Mission Trip. This is a 2-week exercise to practice living your faith at work. It will stretch your mind, but also give you practical actions to get on-mission with Jesus in any job. Check it out at MarketplaceMissionTrip.com.
