What does it mean to be ready? Be ready for what? The Son of Man coming? What difference does that make?
The parables before this passage and the illustrations seem to imply that we’re waiting for Jesus to return.
Jesus gives us the idea that there will be a day when things will change. We live in a time when people have a chance to wait for Jesus. What does waiting for Jesus look like? It means we must live in an “intense spiritual reality” according to Oswald Chambers (My Utmost March 29). We’re waiting on Jesus to return.
What do we do while we’re waiting? We represent our master. We do what he would want us to do? How do we do that? By studying about him, learning about him and then doing what he would want.
How is your intense spiritual reality today? Is Jesus present in your mind as you go through your tasks today? If not, what will it take?
